How A.J.A.X. reaches a recommendation.
The system is designed to keep its major decisions visible. These are the principles behind the default evaluation and recommendation model.
Artifact evaluation
Each piece is compared with the priorities of a specific loadout slot. Compatibility measures how completely the piece satisfies that build. Roll counts are estimated against each stat's average configured roll, so high rolls count slightly more and low rolls slightly less. Each useful preferred substat contributes at least its initial roll, then all useful stats share the artifact's five upgrade rolls. Roll quality uses a calibrated curve: power 2.5 for Flowers and Feathers and power 3 for variable-main-stat pieces. This keeps four average upgrades around S while allowing five-upgrade pieces with complete compatibility to reach S+ without receiving a perfect score. On variable pieces, curved roll quality provides 80% of quality and the requested main stat provides 20%, avoiding double-counting the main stat.
Main and substat priorities
Main-stat requirements are evaluated separately from ordered substat priorities. Equivalent elemental-damage labels are normalized. Compatibility combines a strongly weighted core fit with complete priority coverage. Main 1 and P1/P2 therefore provide most of the result, but missing a configured P3 or P4 keeps compatibility below 100%. Exactly 100% requires every configured priority to match. Lower priorities can still compensate numerically for a missing higher priority. Slash builds use the same weighted check and do not require every named stat for assignment eligibility. Flat and percentage stats remain distinct.
Tier safeguards
Tier letters come directly from the final numeric score; there are no stat-specific tier floors or hidden letter downgrades. The curved quality calculation makes weak rolls contribute progressively less. S+ additionally requires effectively complete compatibility, preventing an incomplete match from reaching the top tier. The deliberate exception is an ANY-only P1 slot: once Main 1 matches, it is S+ on-set or S off-set because no specific substat quality was requested.
On-set and off-set use
Matching the requested artifact set is part of the evaluation. A variable-stat piece with the requested set and a valid main stat always remains available in the assignment list; its substats still determine its score and rank. Flowers and Feathers retain their primary-substat requirement. Off-set pieces remain visible when they meet the normal compatibility requirement.
Loadout progress
Progress uses each artifact's final numerical score. Tier thresholds anchor a continuous point scale: F 0, B 5, A 10, S 15, and S+ 20. Scores interpolate inside each tier, while S+ continues to 25 points at 0.99. Lower goal tiers retain their own baseline, S uses 100 points as 100%, and S+ uses 110 points as 100%. Stronger artifacts keep their full points, so five perfect pieces earn 125 points and display about 114% on an S+ build. Empty slots give no progress.
Character and team tags
Characters carry descriptive tags for role, element, reaction, support behavior, and special mechanics. DPS always describes an on-field role, while Sub DPS describes off-field damage. Off-field skills and element-specific off-field damage count as off-field hits, but a generic off-field hit does not imply a skill. A character's element can complete a matching elemental DPS tag, while Physical Carry requires physical identity and can serve either damage role. Moonsign is the activation tag for lunar team mechanics and supplies Lunar Support matching; a Moonsign Carry still prioritizes its on-field role. Natlan Support is not preferred when the selected main DPS is a Lunar Carry. Team context activates conditional tags and removes recommendations that are not enabled by the selected party. Each team receives one automatic main DPS: a pure on-field damage character takes priority, while a hybrid is treated as support or sub-DPS when that main DPS is present.
Farming recommendations
A.J.A.X. looks at the selected teams, the available loadouts, current progress, and missing upgrades. Automatic choices prefer the more complete duplicate build, reserve each selected build across all three teams, and remain locked until the user cycles manually. It then compares domains and Strongbox options so every result points toward useful account progress.
Dust of Enlightenment
The Dust mark identifies artifacts with exact compatibility for eligible DPS or sub-DPS loadouts. A glowing mark means the piece is already assigned to one of the qualifying builds, making it a clear reroll candidate.
Limits and judgment
A.J.A.X. is a planning tool, not a damage simulator. It does not know every weapon, constellation, rotation, enemy, or personal preference. Recommendations can become outdated after game changes and should be treated as explainable guidance rather than absolute instructions.
